Unabashedly nerdy for science fiction & fantasy, politics, science and history. And opinions! Man, I got so many opinions, I had to rent out a warehouse for em all.

8of5:

Cross Cult have posted two versions of a cover for a forthcoming (2013 or later) German translation of what will be the eighth book in their New Frontier series, Excalibur: Renaissance.

I wonder how many people remember that Ashley Judd had a minor recurring role on TNG as Wesley’s love interest?

Sparks McGee turned her from a yeogirl into a yeowoman, if you catch my drift.

Instead of ignoring Brent Spiner’s natural aging process, I like to think that Data has been making subtle physical alterations to his face so he’ll seem to age along with his friends because he wants to experience aging with them.

There’s an episode in the seventh season of TNG, Inheritance, that mentions  that Data has an “aging” program. Nonetheless, Brent Spiner decided he had grown too old to play the character and had the writers kill him off in Nemesis.

They did leave a door open to bring Data back and while they never had a chance to do it in another TNG movie, they did do it in a comic series called Countdown, which is set just before the events of the Star Trek reboot. Data is brought back in B4’s body, he rejoins Starfleet and eventually becomes captain of the Enterprise.

"Following the confirmation of Terry Farrell’s departure from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and plans to kill the character off, Michael Piller wanted to add a couple of lines to the film, acknowledging Jadzia’s death and the impact it had on Worf. Rick Berman eventually overruled this, arguing that this would confuse film audience members who didn’t follow the show regularly."

Riker: You are the most beautiful woman in the galaxy. You don’t know how long I’ve wanted to tell you that.
Guinan: But you were afraid.
Riker: Yes.
Guinan: Of me?
Riker: Of us. Of what we might become.
Wesley: Uh, Commander—
Riker: Or that you might think that was a line.
Guinan: Maybe I do think it’s a line.
Riker: Then you think I’m not sincere.
Guinan: I didn’t say that. There’s nothing wrong with a line. It’s like a knock at the door.
Riker: Then you’re inviting me in.
Guinan: I’m not sending you away.
Riker: That’s more than I expected.
Guinan: Is it as much as you hoped?
Riker: To hope is to recognize the possibility. I had only dreams.
Guinan: Dreams can be dangerous.
Riker: Not these dreams. I dream of a galaxy where your eyes are the stars and the universe worships the night.
Guinan: Careful. Putting me on a pedestal so high, you may not be able to reach me.
Riker: Then I’ll learn how to fly. You are the heart in my day and the soul in my night.
Wesley: I don’t think this is my style.
Guinan: Shut up, kid! - Tell me more about my eyes.

Riker is the best at what he does and what he does is get laid on a regular basis.

Picard - “I sincerely hope that this is the last time that I find myself here.”

Q - “You just don’t get it, do you, Jean-Luc? The trial never ends. We wanted to see if you had the ability to expand your mind and your horizons. And for one brief moment, you did.”

Picard - “When I realized the paradox.”

Q - “Exactly. For that one fraction of a second, you were open to options you had never considered. *That* is the exploration that awaits you. Not mapping stars and studying nebulae, but charting the unknown possibilities of existence.”

I think TNG was is the best of the entire franchise. Better acting, writing, and directing.
